To be considered for Special Admissions, you must meet the following criteria:

• Completion of high school (or be in the final year of completing)
• Possess a strong desire to attend college and program of choice
• Have a clear, well thought out, and attainable career goal that relates to the program choice
• Your transcript indicates course modifications in Math, Science or English, OR you completed the Essential Skills Achievement Pathway: Workplace Readiness program

If you do not want to be considered for Special Admissions, you’ll need to provide an updated transcript without modifications.  This can be accomplished by upgrading the modified courses through Academic Studies/Upgrading or an SAT (Scholastic Aptitude test).

As a Special Admissions student, you may graduate with either a Regular Certificate or a Diploma from their program of study or with a Certificate of Participation and a Skills Profile.

Any of the following information may be required:

• Special Education Plan
• Disability related documentation
• Psychological Educational Assessment

An information release form will be sent out to you asking that this information be forwarded to °ÄÃÅ6ºÏ¿ª½±½á¹ûÖ±²¥ Special Admissions. If no information is sent and no rational is given stating why information is not being provided, then your file will be closed.

• You will be assessed on questions relating to educational goals, employment goals, interest and/or prior experience in the field, and self-awareness of academic challenges.
• Additional weight will be given if you have worked in the field (co-op, employment, hobby) or have researched the occupation (through a job shadow, °ÄÃÅ6ºÏ¿ª½±½á¹ûÖ±²¥ Student for a Day, campus tour, or seeking knowledge of perspective employers).

If you receive a Special Admissions acceptance letter, you will be contacted to set up an appointment to attend an Intake Meeting where next steps will be outlined.
